Culture lives in the small things. It shows up in the meals families cook without needing a recipe. In the holidays that quietly mark the seasons. In the languages passed between generations at the dinner table. In the rituals that shape everyday life. These moments are often simple. But together they carry stories that travel across generations and across continents. Cultural Notes is where we explore those stories. Here you will find reflections on the traditions families carry forward, the everyday rituals that shape identity, and the makers preserving culture through modern design. Some stories will look at the meaning behind holidays and traditions. Others will highlight founders building brands rooted in heritage and storytelling. Many of the brands featured on CULTR are created by immigrants or children of immigrants who are translating cultural traditions into modern life. Through clothing, toys, books, food, and home goods, they are preserving pieces of culture while sharing them with a wider world. But culture is not only something we inherit. It is something we practice. It lives in the objects we bring into our homes, the traditions we teach our children, and the stories we choose to pass down. Cultural Notes exists to document those moments. A place to explore the traditions that shape us. A place to discover the makers carrying culture forward. A place to reflect on how culture evolves across generations. Because culture is not static. It lives in the everyday.
